Gimme More, Bitch!

Britney's Back, Bitches!

Last night, Z100 here in NYC debuted her new single, "Gimme More" and I am happy (and a little embarrassed) to say that I really liked it! Click here to take a listen for yourself!

My favorite part is the very beginning where she's like "It's Britney, bitch!" LMAO

It's definitely a new sound for her. It's a funky take on her normal dancable style. I'm not even really a fan of hers. Sure, I had "Baby One More Time" stuck in my head for a good portion of my freshman year of high school, and I would shake it up to her thrid album when I was out on the town. But I never really followed her career or hung pictures of her all over the walls of my bedroom (ya, you know who you are!)

I was so into the track that I quite nearly forgot what a nut-job the girl has become. I'm even considering downloading it to my "Around The Reservoir" playlist!

Apparently, I'm a Slow Dancer!

The Slow Dancer

Deliberate Gentle Love Dreamer (DGLD)

The Slow Dancer

Steady, reliable, and cradling him tenderly. Take a deep breath, and let it out real easy...you are The Slow Dancer

Your focus is love, not sex, and for your age, you have average experience. But you're a great, thoughtful guy, and your love life improves every year.

There's also a powerful elimination process working in your favor: most Playboy types get stuck raising unwanted kids before you even begin settling down. The men left over will be hot and yours. Your ideal man is someone intimate, intelligent, and very supportive.

While you're not exactly the life of the party, you do thrive in small groups of smart people. Your circle of friends is extra tight and it's HIGHLY likely they're just like you. You appreciate symmetry in relationships.

What are you? Check it out here!

Attend The Tale...

A new poster has made it's way online for this Christmas's "Sweeney Todd".

The film stars Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter (who was reason enough to go see the fifth Harry Potter film for her scene-stealing role as "Bellatrix Lestrange").

Apparently the studio execs at Dreamworks are so excited about what they've seen of the film, they are saying that this role "will be the sort of signature role for Depp that Captain Jack Sparrow in Disney's 'Pirates of the Caribbean' franchise was." - Daily Variety

This role definitely demands that particular kind of dark characterization, of which Johnny Depp remains a tour de force.

View a clip of the Tony performance from the Broadway Revival (featuring Michael Cerveris and Patti LuPone) here. It's not the best quality, but if you're unfamiliar with the Demon Barber of Fleet Street, this will give you a decent idea of what is in store!

Hot Guy of the Moment

Hero turned Trekkie?

I don't know where the new Mr. Spock will be boldly going, but I'm SO there!

A Little Summer Fun

Just a few pics from the summer that I thought I'd share!
The first is a picture of me and my co-worker out on a cruise on the Hudson River. I kinda look like a red-head which is strange...
These are from the other night at Brooklyn Bridge Park. They did a summer film festival, and I went with a friend to catch "West Side Story". There were probably 5,000 people there, and it was an awesome time!
The movie started after the sun set. SO GORGEOUS!
I'm so not ready for summer to be over :(

Guilty Pleasures; Part II

Le Sigh!

Time for a quick "Luke and Noah" update because last Friday was BIG (as I'm sure you're more than capable of gathering from the picture above...)

So Noah's dad aka "The Colonel" shows up to bribe Noah into joining the army, but Noah isn't having it. His dad is really coming down on him hard, until Maddie walks in. The colonel is apparently SO shocked by the presense of "a girlfriend" that he completely changes his tune.
All of a sudden Noah is the golden boy (well, we already knew that… yum!) and all is right. So they set plans to go to lunch and Maddie goes home to get changed. Noah loses track of time, and asks Luke to help him find a tie. Noah is totally panicking because he's running late.
Meanwhile Maddie and The Colonel are waiting at the restaurant and the Colonel confesses that he had though Noah made up a girlfriend just to please him.

"Why would he do that?" Maddie asks…

WHY INDEED?!

So back at the station, Luke offers to tie Noah's tie. They get really close. Luke asks Noah "what's wrong" and Noah says "nothing". And then...

THEY TOTALLY KISS!

Take the next few minutes to watch this. It's only like :30 seconds, but I'm sure you won't be able to watch just once...

In the scenes for next week (aka this week) Luke's going to tell Maddie… I'll keep you posted!

And for all of you judging me out there -- Is this really worse than most reality tv?

Judge Not Lest You Be Judged…

And so on and so on...

Guilty Pleasures

Hi. My name is Spencer, and I watch Soap Operas.
Ok, no. Not soap operas as in plural, but just one.
And not even a whole one, just one story line of one soap opera. Is that better?

Meet Luke (Van Hansis, above left). Luke is a young gay guy who came out and everyone is really supportive and okay with it. But he's like the only (out) gay in Oakdale, which leads to his life being pretty lonely. He's fallen "in love" before, but of course his beau was straight as an arrow. He's funny, charming, and while he does stereotypical things he isn't stereotypical in the was that network television usually presents homosexuality; ie butt of the joke, in drag, or overly flamboyant.

Enter Noah (Jake Silbermann, above right). He's a recent transplant to Oakdale. He lands an internship at the TV show working with Luke and Maddie (Luke's really good friend who is a super-adorable girl… more on her later!) Noah is an army brat, so clings to the immediate connection that he and Maddie share over old movies and goals and what not.

At first Luke doesn't know what to feel about the new kid, but in a haphazard moment and a single touch, he falls hopelessly for him. But he's straight, or so we assume from his pursuance of the ever adorable Maddie (pictured above with the boys). Eventually, he even gets Maddie and they become a couple. So Luke gets all weirded out and stops hanging around because it's too hard for him be close to Noah, especially since he's been burned so badly by falling for a straight guy before.

This whole big drama with Gwen and Will happens (okay, so there are two story lines that I like, but I won't get into this one…) and in the course of events Luke tells Noah that he's gay. It's not over-dramatic or overly played out. It just is what it is. Noah reassures Luke that he's straight, but insists on being friends. Luke then tells Noah that he really likes him so it's difficult. The scene was handled really well...

But being an army brat and never having had real friends (and for other insinuated reasons) Noah insists that they stay friends. So Luke makes the effort.

Skip forward a few weeks and Luke, Noah, and Maddie are at a party and decide to go swimming at Luke's grandma's pond. At the last second, Maddie gets a call from her crazy older brother and it ends up just being the boys. After swimming there's some rough play which of course ends in an awkward accidental embrace -- which Maddie walks in on.

Noah, in a typical teenage-sexual-confusion manner gets all freaked out because he OBVIOUSLY isn't sure about his own sexuality (duh) so he gets all crazy and clingy with Maddie and asks her to give up her scholarships to Wellesley. WHICH she does because she's still so shook up about her recent break up with Casey (another long story!).

So Luke gets pissed because she's giving up her dream, and Noah gets all defensive… And apparently today they totally make out!

I love it s'much!

Are you judging me yet??

First Photos of "Young Frankenstein"

Broadway.com had some photos of the Seattle run of "Young Frankenstein" which opens this fall at the Hilton Theater on 42nd St.

Megan and Sutton look HOT!

"IF" Confirmed to Star

Michael Reidel, my theater guru, reports that Jake Gyllenhaal is still attached to star in next season's new political drama "Farragut North". The key word here though is "attached". He was involved in the workshop of the show, and, if my understanding is correct, the conditional Broadway run was dependent on the stars continued involvement. That means that nothing yet is official, but with new director Mike Nichols taking over I am VERY hopeful!

"If" Gyllenhaal stays with the production, he will be playing "an idealistic young press secretary who works for a Howard Dean-like presidential contender". The show would open next fall, right around the time of next year's election.

There's also talk of Gyllenhaal pulling a double whammy - starring in both stage and film versions of the show. Matt Damon and George Clooney (le sigh) have apparently purchased the film rights for "Farragut North".

Not bad for a show that hasn't even confirmed it's star...

Meet my Co-workers...

The day I got back from visiting my family in Utah, my group was scheduled to have a summer outing. They chartered a yacht to take us down the Hudson, around the Statue of Liberty, up the East River , etc. There was food, an open bar, and even at one point Karaoke. It was just something fun to do to get everyone out of the office for socializing. You know, an exercise in team morale or something like that...
Anyway, here's a quick pic of the group.

You know, there's a game I am constantly playing in my office. It's one you all know well I'm sure - "Who Is? and Who Isn't?" Cay you find the gays???

HINT: There are two in this photo. And yes, that's including me...

Not To Sound Redundant...

I know that yesterday I put up a video of a dance that Mia Michaels choreographed last week. But last night she managed to yet again top herself with a number danced by Lacey and Neil. It was absolutely beautiful and extremely moving.

And yes. I cried.

As did Mary Martin (I mean Murphy... lol - Thanks, Doug!) . She was speachless!

Again, thank you Mia!
