The Boys, and also The Girls

I just got a text from my sister Mandy. The contents of the text was this:

Ugh, I die. I am loving how much Jack is loving being a big brother. And I am also loving how Finn is chunking up! Jack was a chubby baby, and it looks like Finn is def following in those baby-foot steps.

In other photo news, Glamour magazing did a photo spread of iconic American women. The spread is absolutely gorgeous (you can see it here) These are my top five favorites...

#5 -- America Ferrera as Dolores Huerta

Wait, who? Ya, I had never heard of her either. Apparently she co-founded a foreign laborers union. (Her sign says "strike" in Spanish) So while I'm a terrible feminist for not knowing this American Icon, I'm all about how AMAZING America looks in this shot. Plus, the red truck set against those deep blues... Gorgeous.

#4 -- Camilla Belle as Mary Tyler Moore

Or as I like to call her... Shmary Shmyler Shmoore. I'm a bad feminist, but a pretty good gay. I remember being a kid and watching the Mary Tyler Moore Show with my folks and thinking it was hilarious -- even if I was way too young to get most of the jokes. I love MTM, and this picture is awesome. Um, do you see those shoes???

#3 -- Emma Roberts as Audrey Hepburn

Look at the turn-out and arch in those feet!! There's no denying Audrey is a mega-icon -- would Tiffanys be an iconic jeweler without Holly Golightly? Not to mention her star turns in My Fair Lady, Roman Holiday, and Wait Until Dark. And this Emma Roberts girl? I don't know a damn thing about her, but she's stunning.

#2 -- Emma Stone as Carrie Bradshaw

First of all, I love that Glamour chose to include a fictional character as an American icon. I love it because it's SO TRUE! Name one girl under the age of 30 whose sense of style/dating wasn't affected by Carrie B? Don't think too hard about it, because no such person exists.

#1 -- Alexis Bledel as Rosie the Riveter

I don't think there's anyone in America who doesn't know this iconic image. WWII's Rosie was the hot-flexin' mama that inspired women to jump into the work force while the men were at war. And Alexis (who I ADORE) recreated this flawlessly. The color, the expression... ugh, I die.

Seriously, take five and go look at the whole spread. Easiest five minutes to kill of the day :-)

Travis Returns!

My wonderful friend (iknowaboutpopular) just informed me that Travis Wall is coming back to SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE as a choreographer! Woo hoo!!!

I love this show - Best Reality Show EVER. And Travis is probably my favorite contestant from any season. So, while I'll miss Wade Robison and his crazy like a Fox tampon routines (did you catch that last season - ew!) having Travis around will greatly ease that pain :0)

Also now on board - Adam Shankman: the uber-gay director of HAIRSPRAY. Hmm, not sure how I feel about that....

Creepy...

This photo (source) showed up on a blog that I sometimes go to. Usually the blog is all about the hot guys (it's not as trashy as it sounds...) but I guess they decided to deviate just a bit for this...

I'm not going to say that Heath Ledger isn't hot. Except, Heath Ledger isn't hot. Manly, and easily perceived as "sexy". But hot? Not so much.

Especially in this photo. CREEPY!!!

On a similar note - magazine covers means we're getting closer to the release of "The Dark Knight" - which means more Christian Bale!

You know what else we could use more of?

:0)

My (Hot) December

Before I talk about Kelly, I have to talk about her opening act - Jon McLaughlin.

So B. and I are sitting there waiting for the concert to start, and not expecting an opening act. And then this guy walks out onto the stage out we both had to clutch our pearls and gasp! As did the girls in front of us, who apparently had seen him before because they knew his songs.

Anyway, take a minute to check him out. He's beautiful and TALENTED. The boy seriously rocked out on the keyboard. His hands were flying! His voice is a little like Adam Levine live. On his recordings it's a little different, but I can't put my finger on who he reminds me of. The style is like Coldplay meets John Mayer meets…someone really hot who can rock out on a piano!

He did like 5 songs from his album "Indiana" if you go HERE you can listen to a couple of the tracks…

OK! Moving on…

Kelly Clarkson was absolutely everything that I wanted her to be. The girl sounds just like she does on her albums, even if she does shy away from doing some of her big belty notes live…
The highlight for me of the whole concert was the slowed down version of "Because of You". It was just her and her musical director on the piano. That song is already gorgeous, but they were still able to do to it what she had done to "Beautiful Disaster" for the Breakaway release. At the climax of the song, the audience went nuts. I'm not normally a big screamer (at concerts) but I couldn't help it. She totally started laughing and was like "you guys! I'm not even done yet!" because the audience wouldn't stop hollerin'! lol So Cute!

It was an amazing time. By the end of the night I was sure I was going to have absolutely no voice between the screaming and jumping around and singing at the top of my lungs. I'm surprisingly ok this morning though. Which is good - No time to be exhausted with my schedule!

XOXO
S.

My breath was quite literally taken away by these photos, so I thought I would share!

Mommie to Be

Last night I was redressing my wounds and channel surfing, and I happened past one of those Entertainment Gossip shows. I normally don't stop and watch Extra or Insider (or whatever it was) but the images running across the screen caught my attention.

Charlotte's pregnant, ya'll!

"[Chris] Noth and [Kristen] Davis were full of smiles for the crowds and each other between takes, but the atmosphere between the two takes a tempestuous turn when the cameras roll.

Arms loaded with shopping bags, a flustered Charlotte flees the restaurant, screaming, "I don't want to see you," as Big runs behind her.

Arguing in the street, Charlotte yells, "I curse the day that you were born," before labor pains stop her in her tracks, forcing her to take Big's ever-present chauffeured limousine to the hospital." (Source)

What the EPH is going on there? Big and Carrie are back together and, from photos I saw yesterday, really happy. What is Charlotte so worked up about?

Good lord... I hate that I have to wait until next summer for this...

I'm going to go scoop out the set today. Rumor has it they're shooting on 55th and Park, which isn't all that far from my office.

Lunch break, anyone?

Personal Jesus

Filming began in New York City yesterday on the upcoming "Sex And The City" film!
I hate to geek out about this, but if you understood how obsessed I was back in the day… I mean, I didn't even go to school the week the series ended. I stayed in my apartment watching the marathon leading up to the final episode. I sat on the couch crying when the girls were on Oprah.
Ya, it was pretty ridiculous.
Anyway, they've been so back and forth about the reality of the project ever really coming to fruition. I can't help but goosh my excitement all over the place.
It's like the Second Coming for me - except that Jesus is a blonde with much better footwear!

Coming in Concert

So my favorite music maker Matt Nathanson will be here on October 12th. I seriously can't wait. I don't go to a lot of concerts; it's just never really been my thing. But Matt is a must-see!

And for all my Utah friends, he's playing in Provo on Friday. You all should go, and tell him his Fan in NY says HI!

My Favorite Summer Couple :0)

I haven't seen a whole lot about So-You-Think-You-Can-Dancers Danny Tidwell & Neil Haskell since the third season ended last month. TMZ had this photo posted of the pair during a work out on the UCLA Campus.

HOT HOT HOT

So the rumors are flying about the two of them. I've heard stuff both online, and from more reliable sources here in NYC. I for one would be thrilled if the the boys had "coupled up".

Well, I'd be thrilled, and jealous...

See - I Like Sports!

Ok, so I may be referring to a sport that's considered pretty "gay" - but would you have it any other way?

Last Sunday I was out in Connecticut and was able to catch quite a bit of the Gymnastics World Finals. I am consistently AMAZED by what the athletes can do. My sister and I were both "ooo"ing and "ah!"ing the whole time, which my brother-in-law found pretty ridiculous...

So good news for the US -

The mens team, after finishing in 14th place last year, finished this year in 4th place! No one expected it, but they really pulled through. While they didn't medal, it's a big deal because it qualifies the team for the Olympics next year.

Men's All Around was pretty close, and US Gymnast Jonathan Horton (at left) ended up finishing in 4th place. GO JONATHAN! He's so cute... I'm not usually into guys that look like they're 14, but he's a REALLY HOT 14 (actually, he's 19 - so don't judge!)
Here's a clip I found that of him for those of you who aren't familiar. It's not from the finals, but from last February. He's MUCH better now then back then. I mean, his legs are apart on the pommel and he's got too much swing on the rings... but still, he is awesome!
Shawn Johnson of the US Women's Team finished first in All-Around at the Championship. She is seriously amazing. She kinda flubbed up her beam routine, but her Floor Ex was unbelievable.

I can't wait for the Olympics next year! I try to follow both men's and women's gymnastics, swimming, and diving so there will be many a post to come!

JHud to work for SJP

The Academy Award-winning actress (Dreamgirls) has been cast to play an assistant to Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie Bradshaw in the big-screen version of HBO's hit comedy. The anticipated movie follows the show's four main characters (Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte) four years after the series ended. (SOURCE)

Woo hoo! Another reason to get excited about the long-awaited revival of the best show ever on TV. So Carrie has an assistant... What could she be up to that she has an assistant? A better full-time gig at Vogue? When the series ended she was unemployed so the windows are WIDE OPEN!

I'm Exhausted...

It has been a seriously insane week!

My best friend came into town last Saturday night to do some interviews and hang out. I thought that it was going to be a pretty mellow trip, but ended up being GO GO GO.

Saturday night he arrived, and we went out with friends. We started at Ariba for Margaritas, and then went from Therapy to Vlada to Sortie... and then we went home (which I have no recollection of....) My favorite moment of the night was when he handed me $20 and asked me to order 2 margaritas and 1 Jack & Coke. When I asked him for another $20, his reaction was priceless! WELCOME TO NYC! One of his good friends from high school came out with us and she is one of my new FAVORITE people. I love me some Katie Kido!

Sunday morning, we dragged our hungover arses down to the meatpacking district for brunch at Park with the gang. I was pretty fuzzy-brained, but def remember their Ricotta Pancakes. They are the only pancakes I've had to rival the crack-pancakes at Artists' Palette back in SLC. After brunch we did some shopping, and then headed out to CT.

My sister and brother in law were running late getting home from Massachuesettes, so we had to take a (terrifying) cab to their house from Bridgeport. For the Utah folks... Bridgeport is on par with Kerns or West Valley City. And for the New Yorkers, imagine East Harlem as it's own suburb!

We made it safely there and hung out, ate pizza, and stayed up late braiding each others' hair and watching "Broken Hearts Club". Yep, we are that gay!

Monday was a holiday aka was a beach day - and gorgeous! We were joined by the whole Kilmartin clan down in Noroton Bay. I was really glad that everyone got to meet him.

We trained back to the city and went for drinks - first at the east side Blockheads and then to Posh so that Brian could meet up with his friend Nate (who is adorable btw).

Tuesday I took off work to hang with him during his interviews - which sadly didn't go as well as he'd hoped. The reality really set in, that he's not going to get offered a job until he actually lives here. So yesterday he put in his 2 weeks notice in Ohio and will be arriving right after that. WOO HOO!

Tuesday night, we went to see RENT. The show has Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp back in the production. And Tamyra Grey from the first season of American Idol. All of the above were fabulous, and it was especially awesome to see the two original stars back on the stage!

After the show we went out with Anthony. His driver took us up to Therapy, where there ended up being a drag show, and my "shy" best friend got on stage and lip-synched to "And I'm Telling You" from DreamGirls. Talk about insane! The whole club was hollerin' and I couldn't stop laughing... I don't think Anthony quite knew what to think! It was def more than he'd bargained for...

Anyway, so that was a late night.

Wednesday was Shakespeare in the Park, and then a sports bar to watch Federer vs Roddick right after. Another late night...

Last night I got invited to NBC's Comedy Short film festival. It was fun - good films, though some were more touching than funny... and that was confusing because it was a comedy festival... but oh well... So ANOTHER late night.

And today - I'm wiped. Seriously I've had three LARGE coffees today and I'm still draggin arse. I've got to get some sleep before the weekend.

Tomorrow I'm working down at Fashion week for a few hours. Then I may be headed out to Connecticut for the Oyster Fest with my sister. Apparently the Village People (ya, like those Village People) are playing tomorrow night. I might be the youngest guy in the crowd, but anything is fun with booze and friends, right? Especially MACHO MAN and the freakin YMCA!

Anyway, sorry I was away so long, but you understand, yeah?

I'll get some pics up from Brian's trip as soon as the biotch emails them to me.

MUCH LOVE, AND HAVE A SAFE WEEKEND!

Gimme More, Bitch!

Britney's Back, Bitches!

Last night, Z100 here in NYC debuted her new single, "Gimme More" and I am happy (and a little embarrassed) to say that I really liked it! Click here to take a listen for yourself!

My favorite part is the very beginning where she's like "It's Britney, bitch!" LMAO

It's definitely a new sound for her. It's a funky take on her normal dancable style. I'm not even really a fan of hers. Sure, I had "Baby One More Time" stuck in my head for a good portion of my freshman year of high school, and I would shake it up to her thrid album when I was out on the town. But I never really followed her career or hung pictures of her all over the walls of my bedroom (ya, you know who you are!)

I was so into the track that I quite nearly forgot what a nut-job the girl has become. I'm even considering downloading it to my "Around The Reservoir" playlist!

Attend The Tale...

A new poster has made it's way online for this Christmas's "Sweeney Todd".

The film stars Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter (who was reason enough to go see the fifth Harry Potter film for her scene-stealing role as "Bellatrix Lestrange").

Apparently the studio execs at Dreamworks are so excited about what they've seen of the film, they are saying that this role "will be the sort of signature role for Depp that Captain Jack Sparrow in Disney's 'Pirates of the Caribbean' franchise was." - Daily Variety

This role definitely demands that particular kind of dark characterization, of which Johnny Depp remains a tour de force.

View a clip of the Tony performance from the Broadway Revival (featuring Michael Cerveris and Patti LuPone) here. It's not the best quality, but if you're unfamiliar with the Demon Barber of Fleet Street, this will give you a decent idea of what is in store!
